The objectives of the Centre for Extended Enterprise and Business Intelligence will be to focus research effort on the following fundamental research fields with the intention of adding to both theoretical understanding and industry practices within this new business paradigm.
The areas of focus are:
- Frontier Technologies for Extended Enterprises (CBS AoRE 2003-2006)
- Application of Ontologies to Software Engineering (ARC LP0454029 2004-2006)
- Security, Trusted Computing and Peer to Peer Communication (ARC LP0349100 2003-2006)
- Application of Extended Enterprises to Logistics (ARC LP0219627 2002-2004)
- Business Transformation and Technology Adoption
The above fields have been chosen because:
- They represent the next generation of important ICT applications and
business solutions that are essential for the extended enterprise
- They are potential areas for WA industry and commerce to develop into the international arena as well as provide them with the research and development support that is crucial in gaining a competitive edge in this modern business environment
- Studies in these fields are distinguished from more general Information Science and Engineering, which are frequently focused on algorithms
- They focus on IT and Business integration.
The Centre will help improve ICT services and enhance regional connections. The Centre focuses on Applied Research rather than Pure Research. The research in the areas of extended enterprise applications, ICT project management, security and trusted computing, logistics informatics, business transformation and technology adoption has a strong practical component. The outcomes of research in methodology, analysis, design, development and technology solutions can be directly applied to industry.
